Ashlyn's Recital

After her recital, flowers from everyone.  Ashlyn LOVES receiving flowers!!

Since this was her 3rd year of dance, she was awarded a trophy.  She has looked forward to this all year and was so proud!

 She carried her trophy everywhere!

During the recital during a "genie" move Ashlyn's sleeve became stuck in the jewels on her head.  When she tried to bring her hand down it wouldn't budge.  Jason & I gasped and freaked out.  Ashlyn did the next move with her hand still stuck and then the next part was another genie so she took her other hand and pulled to free her sleeve.  It worked!!!  We were soooooo relieved for her!!!  After her performance I met her backstage to tell her awesome job dancing and especially that she remained calm, kept smiling and dancing during the incident- she wasn't phased at all.  She told me she wasn't nervous about it.  She is so good onstage!  This girl was made to perform!!!!!

Ashlyn loves to pose for pictures ;-)

So proud of our tiny ballerina!  She is so talented & truly loves to perform!

Ashlyn's Kindergarten graduation

Graduation picutres May 2017

The spotlight on Ash

Landon came to watch Ashlyn, but he was in a rush to get back to class so he didn't go to her room afterwards.

Ashlyn's teacher, Ms. Pearce

Ashlyn has had a wonderful year!!!  She has LOVED Kindergarten.  She has made a ton of friends and sees the good in every situation and every friend.  She has had to deal with a few instances of "girl drama" this year for the first time ever.  It has got her down a bit, understandably, but she always has a good outlook.  Her counselor taught her class "Kelso's Choices" for dealing with problems and she always tells me which principle she applied during the confrontation.  I am quick to say "don't be their friend, stay away, etc", but Ashlyn always has a calm, mature response.  She is so kind and thoughtful even in adversity.  I admire her!!!!

Addison's last day of MCP

Our hot mess express wouldn't participate in her class party.  She is such a little toot sometimes.  She wouldn't pose with her teachers or by the door either.  Luckily, I was able to sort of trick her to get a few pictures.  Despite her party behavior, she has had the BEST year at MCP.  Her teachers are so kind and loving.  Addison walks right in and gets her snack every morning.  She stopped crying after about a month of going and really loves it.  She talks about school on our home days.  She mentions her friend Mia a lot and pretends to call her.  She loves going outside at school, playing bubbles and playing balls.  She has had a great year!!!!

Landon's 2nd grade award ceremony

Landon has had a really great 2nd grade year.  He was awarded A/B Honor Roll and 2x2 Library Award (reading 2x2 books and completing a report).  His teachers have been fabulous too.  I am including this next part as this is my scrapbook/baby book..... at the end of this year, after a very lengthy testing process, Landon was diagnosed with dyslexia.  His grades are good, he is reading on grade level, but something wasn't quite right.  His teacher first shared her concerns with me and I requested that he undergo testing for it.  He is so smart and observant and able to compensate very well so all of his other teachers had never caught it. I had always felt something was "off" with his reading, but his teachers always dismissed my concerns because he was meeting all expectations academically. Even the dyslexia teacher, after meeting with him a few times, wasn't sure he had it.  Further in depth testing, revealed he did.  When I was telling Landon, I was telling him it had nothing to do with him being "not smart" or anything like that.  Simply his brain reads/works differently- that was all.  I told him a lot of famous people had it and we were looking up the list online.  He calmly/matter of factly said, "so one day they are going to have to add me to that list".  He truly believes he will be famous and can do anything.  His confidence will carry him far coupled with his motivation and intelligence.  I can't wait to see what the future holds!  Landon, one day if you are reading this as an adult, I hope you know you have handled this entire situation with grace.  You have never let anything slow you down.  You give your very best effort and now we know you were working extra hard everyday.  I'm so happy this was caught early so you can tackle this and move forward just like you always do.  You have the best attitude and I'm so proud. Love, Mommy :-)
