Landon's 1st Day of School

This day has been dreaded by someone in this house and looked forward to with GREAT anticipation by another.  Landon couldn't have been more excited for Kindergarten.  We drive past the school several times a day, play on their playground after hours/in the summer, and have visited the campus once.  I seriously believe there was not another kid more excited than Landon.  He has asked every day all summer- how many more days until big kid school??  Finally, the day arrived........  (insert major mom tears :-(  :(  )

Crossing off his last day on his countdown

Landon picked donuts for breakfast so they had their favorite sprinkles donuts

My big boy ready to go!!!

 Landon being Landon!!

 So precious!  So excited!!!

Done with pictures!  He is ready to GO!!!

Walking to school

Little sister walking with her lunch pack too.  Big bro can't have all the fun!

My big Kindergartener!

Mrs. Popham let the kids select their seats during Meet the Teacher and Landon picked this seat.

 Getting started on his work

Landon's very first teacher- Mrs. Popham

Surprisingly, Landon got very upset when it was time for us to leave.  I think it was a combination of nerves and the unknown.  I got him settled and got out asap.  My neighbors checked on him shortly thereafter and he was fine.  He talked about other kids crying, but never mentioned he cried.  I asked him if he got upset and he said he was tired so I don't think it made a big impression on him- thank goodness!!!!
The school aftermath.... he was exhausted!!!! Landon never lays around.
And then.... he fell asleep about 5 pm.  I woke him up to eat- he ate zucchini and grapes and then said "I can't do this" and went back to bed and was asleep!  He woke up a little later and showered and went back to sleep in a few hours.  He was exhausted!!!

Exerts from Oh the Places You'll Go:

Congratulations!

Today is your day.

You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.

You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.  And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.

You'll get mixed up, of course,
as you already know.
You'll get mixed up
with many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life's
a Great Balancing Act.
Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)

KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

So...
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea,
you're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So...get on your way!

Landon,
You are so smart, determined, caring, inquisitive, observant, and most of all excited about learning that we have no doubt you will go far!  Everyone comments on how excited you are about life.  So true!  Let your excitement carry you far and enjoy every step as your journey in formal education begins!  We love you!!!

Ashlyn's First Dance Class

Ashlyn's first day of dance!!! I have looked forward to this since I found out at 12 weeks that we were expecting a sweet baby girl!!!  The best dance studio in Pearland is very strict about when they can start and the girls have to be 3 by August to start so this was Ashlyn's first year she was eligible.  She was beyond excited!!!  She tells us all the time to not call her a princess anymore, but call her a ballerina.

Excited?!?!!?!

She was so proud of her bun and wanted me to take pics.

She wanted a close up of her bun (Landon assisting)

Time for dance!  There are only 3 little girls in the class (one was absent).  Ms. Stephanie started the girls on ballet.

Ashlyn's cheering section!  Landon and Jason were both taking pictures & videos of Ash.

Next up, tap!  Ash loves wearing her tap shoes.  Ms. Stephanie let them tap to Under the Sea because Ashlyn said she likes Aerial.

Such a cute ballerina!!!!  It was so fun watching her.  This is the first activity she has done all by herself and she loved it.  Funny stories (Ashlyn is the funniest person ever!): After class I asked her what she thought and she said "Second position is kind of tricky."  Also, in class they were pretending to be butterflies and dance across and they were picking colors.  Ashlyn picked to be a pink butterfly.  She told the teacher "I like all the colors of the rainbow, except blue."  Ms. Stephanie said "You don't like blue?  But you have blue eyes."  Ash said "I only like blue eyes."

She has practiced her moves at home and can't wait to go back.  I think we really do have a budding ballerina!
